Needless to say, there are a lot of people around me who are very supportive of my Japanese studies.

周りに支えてくれる人たちたくさんいますけれども

mawari ni sasaete kureru hitotachi takusan imasu keredomo

But what motivates me the most, is the fact that people around me have high expectations for my Japanese.
|
一番勉強のやる気をくれるのは皆さんに期待されていることです

This may sound conceited but, I am well respected among my peers when it comes to Japanese.

自分でいうのはなんですけど、日本語の勉強という面でよく尊敬されます

"Your Japanese is pretty impressive! You are so smart!"

I get very happy when people shower me with compliments like this.

I don't ever want to disappoint those people who have high expectations for me.

I want more people to praise my Japanese, to be impressed by it, and that's what drives me to continue to learn Japanese.

But it's true that when someone else recognizes you for your potential, your confidence level soars.

When you are confident, you start asking yourself "Can't I do better?"

In a nutshell, learning Japanese has not been an easy journey.

Not just Japanese, but if you want to succeed in anything, you need two things: courage and perseverance.

日本語にのみならず、何事でも 成功したいと思えば、勇気と継続性が必要なんです

nihongo ni no minarazu, nani go to demo seikou shitai to omoeba, yūki to keizokusei ga hitsuyou nan desu
|
Here's a thought: instead of looking up to others, why not become the kind of person others look up to?

そして、人に憧れるよりも、人に憧れられるような存在になって見ませんか?

soshite, hito ni akogareru yorimo, hito ni akogarerareru you na sonzai ni natte mimasen ka?
|
I think that way, your life would become more meaningful, and you would be very proud of the kind of life you choose to lead.
